Tripurasundari Temple, popularly known as Matabari, is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in Northeast India and is revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Built in 1501 AD by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari, an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. The temple is renowned for its distinctive tortoise-shaped architecture and its serene surroundings overlooking the sacred Kalyan Sagar Lake, home to rare turtles and fish.
